Executive search

With increasing competition in almost all fields of activity, executive search is becoming more and more of a necessity for most companies on the Romanian market. In order to keep up with the growing need for talented staff, companies are now turning to executive search firms in order to identify and recruit the best candidates available for the leadership positions they have to fill.

In Western countries it is even public institutions that are well aware of the benefits of using the services of experienced recruitment firms and, consequently, often resort to their help when it comes to recruiting high responsibility staff. Unfortunately in Romania things are very different, at least for the time being, as recruitment firms are prohibited by a restrictive legislation to interfere with recruitment processes carried out by state-owned organizations, which are required instead to organize competitive examinations. Although felicitous in theory, this “may the best man win” approach to recruitment proves ineffective in practice, as it cannot be applied at every level and certainly not at the highest level. Truly valuable candidates resent being submitted to tests, examinations and interrogations, so recruiting them through traditional means is virtually impossible. It is obvious that in order for public institutions to achieve a higher level of efficiency both the mentality and the legislation are in dire need being updated according to market demand.
